When I go on an outdoor adventure, every once in a while I like to rough it. It makes me feel like a survivalist. It makes me feel like I can handle any situation that is thrown at me. The minimalist code to the outdoors views high tech gadgets and comfort items as not necessary. Things like camping chairs and butane stoves and GPSs are not needed to get by in the wild. Now that’s all fine and dandy for someone like Bear Grylls, who routinely goes into the wild with basically only a knife and the clothes on his back. Like I said, every once in a while I like to ‘rough it,’ which to me means camping in a tent rather than in a camper.

The majority of times that I enjoy the great outdoors, I like to really ‘enjoy’ them. I like to focus on the activities, like fishing, hunting, hiking, rafting, and rock climbing. If I am not comfortable, then I end up focussing on why I’m miserable. There are a lot of elitist outdoorsmen out there that proclaim that too much luxury or comfort takes away from the experience. That argument is fine, but I believe in enjoying the outdoors in comfort because it allows me to actually enjoy them.

Comfort items that I like to bring usually includes my camper. A camper to me is the ultimate in outdoor comfort. I can sleep in a real bed, take a real shower, cook a meal in a real kitchen, and even watch tv. What more could I ask for? I always bring heavy duty camping chairs, as they allow comfort around the campfire at night.

I don’t always use a camper. If I decide to camp with a tent, then I will bring along one of my Coleman tents to get me through the night.

The petzl head torch is the most popular head light company around. There are several different types of torches that can be purchased and for many different activities. A common use for a head lamp is when someone is going camping because they supply a great deal of light without having to give up the use a one hand.
One of the popular head torches created is Ultra. This particular light supplies a wide-angle and distance viewing for anyone that does activities requiring these specific attributes. This particular light supplies an incredible 350 lumens. That allows for the optimal full viewing range possible.
One of the newer popular head lamps created by petzl is the E+Lite. This specific head light supplies a nineteen meter viewing distance and can withstand some of the worst conditions possible. These sturdy lights are meant to be used all throughout the year in any condition possible while supplying the greatest possible lighting. This head light is a very light weight head torch to keep the user from becoming fatigued due to the weight.
A simpler head light that can be used by campers is the Petzl Zipka Plus. This petzl head torch review will tell you everything you need to know. These simple lights are great for the amateur campers that need a reliable source of light but want something better than a regular flashlight. This hardly light offers a battery life of over 150 hours and has three different brightness levels to offer the most comfortable viewing atmosphere. This light is great for when someone is in a camp bed and wakes up in the middle of the night to use the restroom or go exploring.
The head torches that are created by petzl are the best for any person that enjoys outdoor activities, whether it is bike riding or camping. Overall, if someone wants a great head torch for their experience these are the best on the market.

If you have seen people go white water rafting on TV then you will know what a fun and exciting experience it is. It is something that interests lots of people, but they have not done it for themselves because they think to try it you have to travel to somewhere like the Canadian Rockies or the Himalayas. The chances are though that, wherever you live, you are just a few hours away from somewhere that you can go white water rafting, as a huge mountain range is not necessary for white water rapids to form. The cost of white water rafting is not prohibitive. For a day of white water rafting, you can expect to have to pay around $75, which includes equipment and instruction. For that price, you will probably get to ride the rapids a few times. You may sometimes see companies offering the experience for a lower price, but those companies should be avoided. If a company is significantly undercutting the competition then they are probably cutting corners somewhere, and with white water rafting that means on either the quality of the equipment or the instruction. White water rafting, despite looking kind of scary and dangerous, is actually very safe. Problems very rarely arise and, even if they do, you will have your instructor in your raft to bring things back under control. You will be given a training session before you actually start rafting too, so you will learn what to should you fall off the raft or should the raft capsize. You will be wearing both a life-jacket and a crash helmet, so the chances of incurring any injuries are slim. Even if you do not consider yourself to be a very ’sporty’ person, you can still have a great time going white water rafting. Remember, because it is a group activity, even if you are not a very strong paddler, there will be someone else in the group to cover for you. As there are various difficulty levels as well, then you can start off on slower rapids if you are not feeling very confident. If you are feeling very confident then you can try out the really fast rapids straight away. Even on the fast rapids you do not need to be an athlete, as white water rafting does not require any great strength. Most white water rafting companies have websites, so it is not difficult for you to make a booking. Check out some websites, read some reviews about them and then make your choice. What are you waiting for?

If you spend a lot of time outdoors camping, then you know how important choosing the right sleeping bag can be. When looking to buy a sleeping bag there are many choices that you have to make in order to get the one most suitable for you. You need to decide what size and style you want. You need to determine what type of filler and lining you want. You need to know how warm / cold the climate is that you will be using it in.Once you decide on the style of your sleeping bag, it can help to make the rest of the choices a little easier. There are three basic shapes to choose from – mummy, rectangle and combination. The mummy sleeping bag is generally the warmest as it conforms to the contours of your body leaving considerably less room for cold air to be trapped compared to other styles. It has a hood to cover your head, and an elastic or drawstring draft collar to keep the warm air inside the bag from escaping past your neckline.Again, you should take a look at all the styles available before making your choice and deciding which sleeping bag is best for you, but if it is comfort you are most concerned with, rectangular bags are wider than the others and can be joined by zipper with another rectangular bag to allow two people to snuggle up. But you may just find the combination bag to your liking as it combines the best features of both of the other styles, giving you the best of both worlds and a great night’s sleep when out enjoying nature. After determining style, the next decision will be the all important lining and filler. Again several factors should be taken into consideration before deciding. Among these are allergies, respiratory issues, weight and the ability to repel water. For allergies, asthma or other respiratory sensitivities to down you might need to choose synthetic for your filler. When dry down is lighter but will be rendered useless if it becomes wet. If it becomes wet, the synthetic filler will be heavier but it will not lose it’s ability to insulate. Is the sleeping bag you are considering of a correct size to accommodate your height and weight? Although the necessity of this proper sizing seems evident, this is actually one factor that many people seem to forget about when making their decision. And as a final but no less important point, keep in mind that sleeping bags have temperature ratings which they are designed to meet. You might choose a bag rated for temperatures even cooler than the environment you will be in if you are one of those people who is always cold. And for your own comfort, don’t forget that it is generally more difficult to warm up than it is to be too hot and cool yourself down if necessary.
