You might be one of those people who love the outdoors especially camping in the spring and summer. You might want to factor in bears as these fuzzy animals emerge out of their winter holes and dens during spring and they do not return until its late fall. It is important to be armed with some bear survival tips as they might come in handy in case a grizzly pays your camp a visit. This is especially important even when you just want to take a hike or picnic and return in the evening. The freshly made cookies that you might be carrying might prove to be your undoing. Sleeping under the stars has never been more romantic than during the warm months of summer. Unless your camp site has some iron or steel tents, the conventional tent is no match to a hungry bear.

It is much safer to spend the night in a truck or truck’s camper. When you are safely tucked in your truck, the bear can never access you or your family. When it comes to speed, bears are some of the fastest land animals there are. They might be an average of 1500 lb but they sure can run. The running option is only feasible if the cab of your car is only 2 feet away. You should never ever think of outrunning a bear. The option of a motorbike is only feasible if the bike is already running and you can be able to have it running in excess of 50 km/hr in a split second. For you to be completely safe this summer in the wilderness especially those of Canada, you will have to forego overnight camping especially in areas that are classified as bear country.

In any camping excursion, you will require to set up tents. In the great outdoors, a tent comes in handy especially at night when temperatures can be a bit low. There are several options that you can adopt in order to come up with a special tent if you prefer to camp out in style and comfort. A teepee is a special tent that has been used for hundreds of years by Native Americans. There are several sites on the internet which describe in detail how to make a teepee. There are teepees on display in several Indian museums. The teepee is a vital part of Native Americans way of life as well as their rich culture.

A teepee is an ancient tent that is used by Native Americans. You will often find teepees or teepee models in Indian museums. They take an important role in dioramas depicting the Native Americans of the olden times. A teepee is an integral part of their culture and their way of life.

When it comes to different kinds of camping tools and equipment, the Coleman Company is the first and foremost company that you can rely on. Coleman offers camping items from tents to sleeping bags to backpacks and others. Items that are necessary for camping activities are available from Coleman. Light is truly a necessity for the camping trip and Coleman can offer you a great item to help you with it. Coleman has a long list of great lanterns that every serious camper needs and also for the not too serious ones since they are the kind of campers who probably need the most light.

Take a look at the different rechargeable lanterns from the Coleman brand. Products of this variety include the Instastart Max Northstar, the Premium Dual Fuel Classic, the Elite, the High Tech Focusing Lantern, the Max Family Size Led, the Led Rugged, the Led Pack Away Lamp, and the Max Led Dynamo Lantern. Coleman has a pretty impressive line of great products such as camping lanterns. You can purchase some of these items in fine stores everywhere. Walmart has all these types of lanterns and you will also get a good Walmart price.

Rechargeable lanterns are also available from Coleman. Leading department and sporting goods stores have these items for sale. These lamps can be excellent for boating, camping and during emergencies like power outages. They can be used with other lanterns or just serve as a back-up if there is no more fuel available to keep the light of the other lanterns.

You can purchase a Coleman Rugged Rechargeable Lantern at the price of $34.88. Its charger is stored at the base of the lantern so there is no need to lug around an extra equipment for charging. It has a nine-watt U-tube twin fluorescent for a whiter and brighter light. The item is also equipped with a LED night light in amber color that gives off a relaxing glow to soften the darkness of the night allowing the tired campers to get quickly drowsy without the light shining in their eyes. This can give the campers especially the little ones a sense of security knowing that they are not totally in the dark.

Another excellent product from Coleman is the Max Rechargeable LED. This is sold at $44.88 and is equipped with several features for the serious campers. When on high, it has 145 lumens. The lights can run for ten hours long on high and when it set on low, it can run up to five hours. You are assured that when you are out in the woods, you will have hours of light as you follow the camping trails.

The LED runs cool so you will not feel any hot surface when you touch it. The long-lasting bulb will not let you purchase several replacements. Indeed, this lantern is very economical. It has a rhino guard which is chrome-plated and is resistant to weather. If Mother Nature throws in rain, hail, snow or sleet, this rechargeable lantern can withstand it.

The Retro Rechargeable Battery Powered Lantern is another creation by Coleman. This is priced at $44.99. This lantern carries the features that the other lanterns possess. Some persons like this item but had concerns with the construction and wiring. However, they liked this lantern more than disliking it. But other people totally dislike the Retro and were disappointed that this was released by the Coleman Company. So the item is left for you to judge.

The 3 man camping tent is a popular size camping tent for many campers.

When I go on an outdoor adventure, every once in a while I like to rough it. It makes me feel like a survivalist. It makes me feel like I can handle any situation that is thrown at me. The minimalist code to the outdoors views high tech gadgets and comfort items as not necessary. Things like camping chairs and butane stoves and GPSs are not needed to get by in the wild. Now that’s all fine and dandy for someone like Bear Grylls, who routinely goes into the wild with basically only a knife and the clothes on his back. Like I said, every once in a while I like to ‘rough it,’ which to me means camping in a tent rather than in a camper.

The majority of times that I enjoy the great outdoors, I like to really ‘enjoy’ them. I like to focus on the activities, like fishing, hunting, hiking, rafting, and rock climbing. If I am not comfortable, then I end up focussing on why I’m miserable. There are a lot of elitist outdoorsmen out there that proclaim that too much luxury or comfort takes away from the experience. That argument is fine, but I believe in enjoying the outdoors in comfort because it allows me to actually enjoy them.

Comfort items that I like to bring usually includes my camper. A camper to me is the ultimate in outdoor comfort. I can sleep in a real bed, take a real shower, cook a meal in a real kitchen, and even watch tv. What more could I ask for? I always bring heavy duty camping chairs, as they allow comfort around the campfire at night.

I don’t always use a camper. If I decide to camp with a tent, then I will bring along one of my Coleman tents to get me through the night.

When you are planning a trek in the wilderness you need to plan well ahead of time to make sure you take all the necessary equipment. There is lots of modern equipment you could take with you from satellite phones to GPS locators but the equipment I am going to discuss are the general survival equipment that you should always have with you when you are in remote areas.

The first thing you should put in your bag is a tactical knife or one of the many types of hunting knives available. This piece of equipment can be used to build makeshift shelters and cooking equipment as well as spears for hunting this one piece of equipment can make the difference between survival and death so do not skimp on a cheap weak knife as it is your best friend out in the wilderness.

The next thing you should have is a sleeping bag and a good tent even if the tent gets damaged you can build a shelter with your knife. Sleeping bags should have a high heat rating as its better to have a sleeping bag that is to warm rather than one that can’t keep you warm enough if it gets colder than you expected it to get.

The ability to start a fire is needed as well you should not just carry a lighter or matches but take a fire lighting kit that has a flint striker and tinder to catch the spark both of these will work even if they have been soaked in water as well as being bashed about unlike the lighter or matches.

You also need a small first aid kit as well as water purification kit. Your first aid kit needs to have the following scissors, tweezers, needle, water purification tablets, selection of bandages, plasters, iodine tablets, antiseptic cream, medical tape and a roll of gaffer tape in case you need to make a splint.

There are a lot more pieces of equipment you might need depending on your location but if you take the equipment above you will have all the basic tools to survive in the wild.

The National Park Service in America started in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson. National Parks go back even further than that when Pres. Ulysses S. Grant made Yellowstone the first National Park in 1872. Today the National Park Service is entrusted with the care of 84 million acres and not all of it is forests. They protect shorelines, battlegrounds, historical areas and even the White House! However, National Parks are still some of the best places to set up your popup camper or cheap camping tents and really enjoy the outdoors.
One way to enjoy the parks, and save some money, is to pick up the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass. Purchasing this pass allows you and your car (up to 3 passengers), access to all of the parks for 1 year from the date you purchased it. That is a lot of places you can see for a low price! It has varying costs depending on a variety of factors like if you are a senior citizen or a volunteer at national parks. They usually can be purchased at the parks, but just in case you might want to give the park a call before you visit if you are unsure whether or not you will be able to purchase a pass there.
Camping is one of the great activities to do in these parks and many have campgrounds that are on a first come, first serve basis. Some allow you to make reservations in advance but many don’t. During the summer months and holidays these campgrounds can fill up quickly, especially in the most visited ones like The Smoky Mountains, Yosemite or Yellowstone. One of the greatest things about the National Parks is that there is never one too far from home. With the exception of Delaware all 49 states have an area under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service so you don’t have to travel very far to take advantage of these outdoor areas and enjoy some peaceful time camping with friends and family.

The market is flooded with all kinds of tents. But you can narrow these down to your choice, depending on what your needs are and requirement. Here are large samplings of the different types of tents available now in the market: lean-to-shelters, dome, pup, hammock, canvass, mountaineering, bivy sacks with or without poles, the mosquito netting, the family size, and the multi-room. Actually, this list could go on and on but here’s a short rundown of the above listed types:

Dome tents are the free standing types. They are roomy inside and are easy to assemble. Dome tents are usually made of light-weight materials and are therefore very convenient to carry around in a backpack. Pup tents are lighter in weight than the dome model. They are not very useful though especially during rain or snow because of their open ends. Neither are they functional during trips to the lake nor swamp since they will obviously not be able to keep the mosquitoes away. Pup tents are strictly backyard or sleepover tents you can set up during light weather. The multi-room style can accommodate a large number of people and is the preferred tent by camping families or small groups. This type, however, is not good for backpacking since it is heavier and bulkier than the other models. But if you are out camping in the rain, the multi room 6 man tent will definitely keep you warm and dry inside.

If you’re serious about hiking and camping and all that stuff, what you should do is invest in a one-person, backpacking tent like the bivy sack. Bivy sack models are light and can weigh as little as a pound. The one drawback of bivy sacks, however, is that though they are light to carry around in a backpack, they actually offer little protection against the elements. These tents may not be good for heavy hiking but they are good enough to keep you rested and ready to go for another day.

The petzl head torch is the most popular head light company around. There are several different types of torches that can be purchased and for many different activities. A common use for a head lamp is when someone is going camping because they supply a great deal of light without having to give up the use a one hand.
One of the popular head torches created is Ultra. This particular light supplies a wide-angle and distance viewing for anyone that does activities requiring these specific attributes. This particular light supplies an incredible 350 lumens. That allows for the optimal full viewing range possible.
One of the newer popular head lamps created by petzl is the E+Lite. This specific head light supplies a nineteen meter viewing distance and can withstand some of the worst conditions possible. These sturdy lights are meant to be used all throughout the year in any condition possible while supplying the greatest possible lighting. This head light is a very light weight head torch to keep the user from becoming fatigued due to the weight.
A simpler head light that can be used by campers is the Petzl Zipka Plus. This petzl head torch review will tell you everything you need to know. These simple lights are great for the amateur campers that need a reliable source of light but want something better than a regular flashlight. This hardly light offers a battery life of over 150 hours and has three different brightness levels to offer the most comfortable viewing atmosphere. This light is great for when someone is in a camp bed and wakes up in the middle of the night to use the restroom or go exploring.
The head torches that are created by petzl are the best for any person that enjoys outdoor activities, whether it is bike riding or camping. Overall, if someone wants a great head torch for their experience these are the best on the market.

Portable coolers are great because they provide the essential service of keeping your food and beverages cold. In fact, it’s hard to imagine what you would do without them. But depending on what your activity is, your cooler needs can be vastly different. For example, if you’re going on a weeklong hiking trip you’ll need a cooler that can hold lots of food and drinks and keep the cold for very long periods of time without any additional ice or help. However if you’re looking for portable coolers for tailgating your needs will be very different; you’ll probably want something that’s transportable and easy to carry to and from the car. In this review of portable coolers, we’ll give you some tips on how to find the best cooler for you at a price that’s just right.

The first type of cooler that most people think of when they think of portable coolers are the large, hard plastic cooler. Typically these are made by brands like Rubbermaid and Coleman and are specifically designed for camping and similar activities. They are often rated based on the days that they can keep ice from completely melting (so they’ll be called 5 day coolers or 7 day coolers or whatever). These types of coolers will have heavy duty handles to handle the heavy load, they’ll also have extra insulation to help maintain the cold better. They also have hard shells that make them more durable for lugging around and having things knocked into them and they’ll be great for sitting on as well.

Another type of portable cooler is the soft shelled plastic cooler. Typically these will be coolers that have soft sides and a aluminum foil like interior. These make great cheap tailgate coolers because they will hold a fair amount of food and beverage for a short while and when you’re done you can fold them up and throw them in the back of the car. Some are even so cheap that they’re designed to be thrown away.

Montana has some of the best fishing, hunting, and camping grounds, as well as three of the five entrances to yellowstone. While on your Montana Vacation and don’t forget the Must see sights.

Beartooth Highway also the “All-American” highway is the highest elevation highway in the Northern Rockies. Due to the enormous snow fall in the area, the Beartooth highway is only open seasonally from May to October. While driving down the road its not uncommon to pass through areas where there are snow wall 3-4 times higher than your vehicle. It is said to be like going through a maze and is quite a sight.

This road was built to provide Yellowstone Park access From the Billings and is about 60 miles of breath taking experience. Beartooth comes from the Crow Indian description of the geologic formation in a range. Beartooth is now in the top ten scenic drives in the Northern Rockies.

Stillwater Valley: the Stillwater Valley is located in the south central part of Montana. Some of the main geographical feature includes the Beartooth Absaroka Wilderness area, the Stillwater and Yellowstone River valleys and the lake basin, coulees and rolling plains at the Northern end of Stillwater County. On a historical note, you can follow much of Lewis and Clarks exploration of Montana through this area. On their return trip in 1806 Clarks return through Reed Point, Columbus, and Park City and view the Pompeys Pillar National Historic Monument, the only surviving physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Absarokee: Absarokee is a small town at the foot of the Beartooth Mountains that is known for its hiking, fishing, camping and outdoor activities.

Columbus: Columbus is in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains, along with great fishing, and for camping you can check out the “Museum of the Beartooths” which contains memorabilia of the Rosebud River Crow Indians, Northern Pacific railroad and World War ll history. Other activities include boating and water sports at Cooney Dam.

Billings: billings has a large number of exciting things that are fun to do.. Like the Northern Pacific Depot, MetraPark, Boothill Cemetery and Monument, Black otter trail, Yellowstone Kelleys Grave, Yellowstone county museum, Yellowstone art museum, Alberta Bair Theater, Moss Mansion, and the Western Heritage Center.

An item of historical interest, the Boothill Cemetary and monument is the final resting place for Muggins Taylor, the scout who first carried the news of Custer’s last stand to the world.

The Yellowstone county museum in Billings is also a must see destination. There is the landmarks gallery which has national and international artists. There is also the Landmarks Gallery which exhibits artwork of local national and international artists.

The National art museum is a nationally accredited art museum with both contemporary and historic changing exhibitions. You will find exhibits of paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, prints and photography. You will also find the comprehensive works of the cowboy illustrator Will James.

The western heritage Center has the distinction of being listed on the National Register of Historic Place and is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate. It is a regional museum focusing on the people of the Yellowstone River Valley.
