When you are planning for a camping trip, it is important to have a checklist of what should be brought, especially if the place where you are going doesn’t have a convenience store nearby. Camping is partly about having fun with your family or friends and it is also partly about surviving for a day or two without any advanced technology. This is the main reason why you should bring all the basic necessities so that you will be comfortable.
One of the essential things to bring if you are camping during the dog days of summer is a camping fan. These fans will keep you and your companions comfortable during the hot weather, making it easier to get some shut eye. However, just like with any other piece of equipment, you have to choose the right fan for your needs. Here are some tips on finding the most effective portable camping fans:
• Be particular about the brand you buy- If you have already used a particular brand of camping gear before and you find it is well made you can check and see if they produce any camping fans. Coleman and Texsport are two of the leading manufacturers of camping stuff, and both include fans in their product lineup.
• Know how it is powered and if it is convenient for you- These mini camping fans are powered in different ways. There are those that are battery operated, solar powered, and rechargeable. All of these are convenient to use, but which you chose actually should depend on what you like to use or how many days you are going out camping. If you are going to camp for a few days to at least a week, solar powered camping fans are the most convenient. Battery operated fans for camping are widely available and may also be a good choice, but keep in mind that a set of fresh batteries will only last you a night or two. So keep plenty of extra batteries on hand.
• Choose a heavy duty camping fan- There are a lot of camping fans in stores and they even come in a variety of designs. But before you choose assess first if the materials that are used for the fan are durable or not. Some camping fans are made so cheaply that after using it once or twice it will not work very well anymore, which is why you should choose wisely. A cheap $10 fan may look good on paper, but if it dies on a hot and humid night you may find yourself sweating it out.
• Make your money count- Before you turn away from a more expensive portable camping fan, assess first why it is expensive. Usually expensive fans are the better quality ones and will last you through more camping trips. If you are a once in a decade camper then maybe it makes sense to go cheap. If you and your family like to camp out at least once each summer than go for something that will last you awhile.
