Available today, heavy duty outdoor folding chairs have not been been around for long. They are composed of extra strong metal frames with rip stop nylon seats, backs, arms and in some cases head rests. These chairs fold not just at the seat, like regular folding chairs, but in several places, until you have a rolled chair, which can be stored and/or carried in a nylon bag. The new chair in a bag chairs are not light, but they are comfortable. Bring along some young people to carry the chairs to your roosting place.
Many of these chairs are designed for camping or tail-gating. Because of the nylon components, there are a variety of colors available, and chairs with team logos for the tail-gater are readily available. Some chairs have small pouches attached to the arms to store things you might need close by, and many have at least one can/cup holder inset in one of the chair arms. Some of these chairs also have sun umbrellas that can be attached to the chair to shade the sitter. All in all these chairs could be said to have it all.
The regular folding chair where the seat folds up and the legs fold together to make the storage requirements for the chair narrow also comes in heavy duty versions. You can get the steel frame with a plain or upholstered steel seat and back, or you can get wood framed folding chairs with a padded seat that look like regular wood chairs when open. These chairs are not all that much more expensive that the regular ones, surprisingly.
On a slightly different note, I want to mention folding beach chair, especially the beach chair with a canopy. These chairs are not that heavy, and providing some shelter from the sun is a pretty nifty idea. They mat well have been around forever, but I just ran across one when I was looking at outdoor folding chairs. I thought you might like to know about it as well.
